Law Reforms Commission of Pakistan is an independent Think-Tank of prominent scholars and researchers, formulated to review, research and propose a just and fair law system for the society. We propose changes to the current laws in-light of the academic debates, conferences, seminars, public consultations and recommendations of our prominent scholars, social stakeholders and legislators. We advocate speedy and fair judicial system, wherein the victim has the confidence and access to a fair judicial system.
At LRCP we encourage law researchers, academics, legislators and technocrats to actively participate in the periodic and systemic reviews for the dispensation of the judicial system.
We advocate social causes for a peaceful society and justice in public interest. We the members strongly believe in the Rule of Law and therefore litigate matters, where necessary, in the Public Interest only.
There are four main methods of reforming the law:
(a) repeal (removal or reversal of a law),
(b) creation of new law,
(c) consolidation (combination of a number of laws into one) and
(d) codification (collection and systematic arrangement, usually by subject, of the laws of a state or country).
We believe that speedy justice served is the key to the development of a society in all social, economic and human terms. People involved in unnecessary litigation cases are typically the victims of human rights violations – by the government or other powerful actors – that are ultimately experienced by the larger society and as a nation.
Law Reforms Commission of Pakistan promotes ideas of reforms in Pakistani laws, policies and enforcements by advocating ‘Rule of Law’ and believe in vigorous expert debate in the pursuit of peaceful and just society for all.
Legal empowerment enables people to know, use and shape the law. It starts from a grassroots orientation, as opposed to the top-down approaches of law reform and litigation. Legal empowerment is about strengthening the capacity of all people to exercise their rights – either as individuals or as members of a community – and ensuring that the law is available and meaningful to all the citizens.
A Pakistan where ‘Peace & Justice for All’ is the norm, and ‘Rule of Law’ is uphold.
